Area description

The nature reserve is located on the Kahle Pön mountain . In the NSG there are heather areas, mountain meadows and a beech forest .

The NSG is supposed to protect the heathland areas, the mountain meadows and the beech forest. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”. The main reason for protection is the maintenance and restoration of the biotope types and the protection of flora and fauna in the area. To ensure the coherence and implementation of the European Natura 2000 system of protected areas .
