Nature reserve forest reserve Glindfeld (Medebach)
The nature reserve forest reserve Glindfeld (Medebach) with a size of 2,151.77 hectares is located on the western city limits of Medebach . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2003 with the Medebach landscape plan. The NSG is part of the European bird sanctuary Medebacher Bucht (DE-4717-401). The NSG also belongs to the FFH area of the Glindfeld-Orketal forest reserve . In the urban area of Winterberg , the nature reserve Waldreservat Glindfeld (Winterberg) is partly directly connected . The NSG is divided into two parts by the Orketal nature reserve .
Area description
The NSG is a forest area in which mainly beech and red spruce are found. The NSG also includes grassland areas . Species such as the black stork , red kite , rough-owl , pygmy owl , black woodpecker and gray woodpecker breed in the area . The highest mountain in the NSG is the Schlossberg at 791.3 m above sea level. NHN .
Protection purpose
The NSG is supposed to protect the forest area with its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
