Hoche nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hoche nature reserve with a size of 2.34  hectares is located northeast of Düdinghausen in the city of Medebach . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2003 with the Medebach landscape plan. The NSG is also part of the European bird sanctuary Medebacher Bucht (DE-4717-401). The NSG is largely surrounded by the nature reserve Medebacher Norden: Düdinghauser Hochmulde, valley areas and slopes .

Area description

In the NSG there is wet grassland with ponds. There are numerous endangered plant species in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the grassland and ponds with its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
