The Hallebachtal nature reserve with a size of 86.7  hectares is located west of Oberschledorn in the urban area of Medebach . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2003 with the Medebach landscape plan. The NSG is also part of the European bird sanctuary Medebacher Bucht (DE-4717-401). In the north, the NSG predominantly borders on the landscape protection area Medebach north: Düdinghauser Hochmulde, valley areas and slopes and in the south on the landscape protection area Medebach . In the east, the NSG borders directly on the village of Oberschledorn. In the west, the nature reserve forest reserve Glindfeld (Medebach) borders directly .

Area description

In the NSG there are around the Hallebachtal with its grassland. There is wet and humid grassland in the valley, as well as some fallow land. There are poor pastures on the valley slopes. There are no roads or buildings in the valley. Endangered plant species occur in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the grassland valley with its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
