Brüche-Talung nature reserve

The nature reserve Brüche-Talung with a size of 18.83  hectares is located west and south of Düdinghausen in the urban area of Medebach in the valley of the Prisebecke , North Rhine-Westphalia.It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis
in 2003 with the Medebach landscape plan. The NSG is part of the European bird sanctuary Medebacher Bucht . It begins on the western outskirts of Düdinghausen.

Area description

The NSG is a grassland valley . In the valley floor there are also areas with wet grassland. In the NSG there are numerous endangered plant species and also offer a refuge for numerous hedge breeders such as the red-backed shrike .

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the valley with its grassland and its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
