Lückenkopf nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lückenkopf nature reserve with a size of 2.45  hectares is located southwest of Berge in the city of Medebach . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2003 with the Medebach landscape plan. The NSG is part of the European bird sanctuary Medebacher Bucht .

Area description

The NSG is a flat, undulating grassland area with flat hardlings, locally interspersed with a few individual bushes and broom bushes. The lack of sharp land plots and the soft transitions between open land and broom bushes are reminiscent of old pasture landscapes.

The area forms the core zone of a typical red-backed shrike -Lebensraumes. Endangered plant species occur in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the grassland with its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
