The Figgemecketal nature reserve with a size of 15.85  hectares is located south of Medebach . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2003 with the Medebach landscape plan. The NSG is part of the European bird sanctuary Medebacher Bucht (DE-4717-401).

Area description

The NSG is the Figgemecke grassland valley . In the grassland there are poor pastures and wet meadows. On the slope on the third Köppel flat rocks emerge. The slope is a beech trees - low forest planted.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the grassland and forest with their species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
