Rüdenscheid nature reserve

The nature reserve Rüdenscheid with a size of 18.83  hectares is located southwest of Medelon in the urban area of Medebach . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2003 with the Medebach landscape plan. The NSG is part of the European bird sanctuary Medebacher Bucht . The NSG consists of two areas. The NSG is located on the city limits of Hallenberg . The Stemmberg nature reserve borders directly in Hallenberg .

Area description

The NSG is a grassland area . Endangered plant species occur in the NSG. In the NSG breed rear breeders such as Red-backed Shrike .

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the grassland and its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
