Osterntal nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Osterntal nature reserve with a size of 6.42  hectares is located northeast of Düdinghausen in the urban area of Medebach . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2003 with the Medebach landscape plan. The NSG is part of the European bird sanctuary Medebacher Bucht .

Area description

The NSG consists of parts of the Osterntal with grassland , forest and hedges . Wet and poor grassland can be found in the NSG. Parts of it have fallen fallow. Endangered plant species occur in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the grassland valley and the forest area from its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
