from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Knickhagen nature reserve with a size of 10.94  hectares is located north of Oberschledorn in the city of Medebach . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2003 with the Medebach landscape plan. The NSG is part of the European bird sanctuary Medebacher Bucht . It starts near the outskirts of Oberschledorn.

Area description

The NSG is a grassland valley . In the valley floor there are also areas with wet grassland. There are numerous endangered plant species in the NSG. In the NSG breed rear breeders such as Red-backed Shrike .

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the valley with its grassland and its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
