from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wilde Aa nature reserve with a size of 7.77  hectares is located southeast of Oberschledorn in the city of Medebach . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2003 with the Medebach landscape plan. The NSG is part of the European bird sanctuary Medebacher Bucht . In the east it goes to the state border with Hessen .

Area description

The NSG is a grassland valley of the Wilde Aa in this area. The river bank is lined with willows and alders. Endangered plant species occur in the NSG. In the NSG breed rear breeders such as Red-backed Shrike .

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the grassland and its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
