Hollenhaus nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hollenhaus nature reserve with a size of 7.3  hectares is located west of Dreislar in the city of Medebach . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2003 with the Medebach landscape plan. The NSG is part of the European bird sanctuary Medebacher Bucht . It consists of two sub-areas. The southern area extends to Kreisstraße 56.

Area description

In the NSG it concerns parts of the south-exposed and grazed valley slope of the Ölfe . There is partly poor grassland with bushes. Rock ridges come to light locally. The NSG is interspersed with hedges and bushes. There is a lot of red fescue in the poor grassland. Endangered plant species occur in the NSG. In the NSG diversely structured pasture complex hatch rear breeders such as red-backed shrike , a key species in the bird sanctuary Medebacher bay.

Protection purpose

The NSG serves to preserve a structurally rich grassland-hedge complex with poor grassland, in particular as a breeding habitat for the red-backed shrimp and to sustainably secure habitats particularly worthy of protection. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
