Bydgoszcz Quarries Nature Reserve
The nature reserve Bromberg Quarries with a size of 2.82 hectares is located northwest of Medebach . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2003 with the Medebach landscape plan. The NSG borders on Landstrasse 740 to the west. The NSG is almost entirely surrounded by the Medebach landscape protection area. The northern area borders in the north on the nature reserve clearing island Rennefeld . The NSG consists of two areas.
Area description
The NSG consists of three former quarries and their surroundings. The quarries have rock walls up to 10 m high.
Protection purpose
The NSG is supposed to protect the quarries with their species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
