from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nature reserve Grüner Almecke with a size of 5.8  hectares is located northeast of Deifeld in the urban area of Medebach . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2003 with the Medebach landscape plan. The NSG is also part of the European bird sanctuary Medebacher Bucht (DE-4717-401). The NSG is surrounded by the nature reserve Medebacher Norden: Düdinghauser Hochmulde, valley areas and slopes . In the southeast it borders directly on Landstrasse 872.

Area description

The NSG is located in a small side valley of the Dittelbach with grazed grassland and many hedges parallel to the height lines. The grazed slope areas have lean and dry ryegrass-white clover and red fescue-ostrich pastures. There are numerous endangered plant species in the NSG. The density of the hedge, the arrangement of the hedges and the geomorphology of the valley give the NSG a scenic appearance. The lean grazed grassland and the rear density are responsible for the encountered here breeding population of Red-backed Shrike as characteristic species of bird sanctuary "Medebacher Bay".

Protection purpose

The NSG is intended to protect a closely-knit shrubbery open land cultural landscape complex because of the special nature and beauty of this area and permanent protection of the habitat functions of a diverse cultural landscape complex as a piece of the mosaic in the protection of the bird sanctuary "Medebacher Bucht".
