All You've Got (also known as California Volley Girls ) is an American sports - Drama in 2006. The film is about rivalries in a female volleyball team . It was produced by MTV and Paramount Pictures .

action

The Phantoms are Cathedral High School's volleyball team. With a close win in the tie-breaker , the volleyball players around captain Gabby Espinoza win the final of the State Championship against their arch rivals, the Madonnas. Six months later, the daughter of a single father is happily driving through town with her teammates Rada and Lettie when she hears on the radio about a fire at the school of the Madonnas. When she gets there, she learns that her father, the firefighter Javier Espinoza, was killed in the fire. Lauren McDonald was the Madonnas' outstanding player. In order to continue their career together with their best friends Becca and Katilin, the three young women, who come from privileged backgrounds, decide to switch to Cathedral High.

Since there are more players than places available in the squad for the new season, coach Harlan has announced a selection process for the first few weeks. When the new team is finally announced, all three former Madonnas are on the list, but Lettie is not. The rivalry leads to a clear defeat in the first game of the season against Mother of Mercy, because the newly formed Phantoms team does not harmonize. The trainer is angry and asks for better cooperation and more love for the sport. Gradually, the previous rivals come together and discover sympathy for one another. This also has a sporting effect; the Phantoms win one game at a time.

Only Becca is dissatisfied because she is jealous of the friendship between Gabby and Lauren. She tells Gabby that her ex-boyfriend, the well-known musician Artie Sanchez, is now having fun with Lauren. A new argument arises, which Gabby and Lauren also fight during a game on the volleyball field. After the trainer intervened, the two reconciled. But Becca does not give up. Before an important game on the way to winning the championship again, she dips melatonin into Gabby's water bottle. Gabby then loses control of her body. The coach suspects drug use and suspends his player. Becca is used instead. After the game, Becca reveals to Lauren what she did. Gabby then returns to the team while Becca has to watch. In the championship final, the Phantoms defeat Mother of Mercy. Becca apologizes for her wrongdoing and everything is in harmony again. Finally, the volleyball players continue their careers at various universities.

criticism

The reviewer from kino.de describes the film as "[h] armless high school sports drama, which is primarily aimed at young MTV viewers". The criticism of cinema.de turns out to be even more negative: As a "recurring motif [are] the close-ups of exercising girls" in the center and the film is "like a kidney stone: painful, unnecessary and annoying".
