Lazar Samardžić (born February 24, 2002 in Berlin ) is a German football player who also has Serbian citizenship. He has been playing for Hertha BSC since his youth and is a young German national player.

Career

Samardžić played for FV Spandau and in Neukölln for Schwarz-Weiß and BSV Grün-Weiss . At the age of seven he was accepted into the Hertha BSC youth training center , where he has been trained ever since. In his first year for the U17s, the midfielder played 25 Bundesliga games in the North / Northeast relay, and scored 24 goals and four assists for the team. The Berliner missed half of the 2018/19 season due to a knee injury and was just under the season runner-up with the team behind VfL Wolfsburg .

In the summer of 2019, Samardžić moved up to the A-youth and was also able to assert himself here; up to the season break due to the COVID-19 pandemic , he was able to score 14 hits and prepare nine more. From September, his first appearances for the second men's team in the Regionalliga Nordost followed . After all, the midfielder made his debut in the Bundesliga on May 22, 2020 in a 4-0 derby against Union Berlin under head coach Bruno Labbadia , after having been in the squad twice .

His contract with Hertha BSC is valid until June 2024.

National team

From 2017 to 2018 Samardžić played in seven games for the German U16 national team (two goals). In 2019 he played five times for the U17 and took part in the 2019 European Championship in Armenia . There the team was eliminated after the group stage, with Samardžić being used in all games. He is currently a U19 international .
