Jean-Manuel Mbom (born February 24, 2000 in Göttingen ) is a German - Cameroonian football player . The midfielder , who can also play in full defense , is under contract with Werder Bremen and is a young German national player.
Career
society
Born in Lower Saxony, Mbom received football training from the age of thirteen with Bundesliga club Werder Bremen . He became the youngest student ever accepted into Bremen's youth training center. In the B-Junioren-Bundesliga 2016/17 Werders U17 reached the final round of the German championship as the winner of the North / Northeast relay with the midfielder who has meanwhile been named team captain , but lost the final against FC Bayern Munich . Due to injury, Mbom could not complete the last five games of the season. For his achievements, Mbom was awarded the Fritz Walter Medal in silver in the U17 age group in 2017 .
For the 2018/19 Bundesliga season, after receiving a professional contract valid until June 2021, he was promoted to the squad of the first team, but was only used as a regular player in the regional league team relegated from the third division . At the end of the season, Werder II reached third place and thus missed the targeted promotion.
For the third division season 2019/20 Mbom was awarded to KFC Uerdingen 05 to gain match practice . The midfielder played 28 league games (1 goal) and two games in the DFB and Niederrhein Cup for the Krefeld team until he sustained a knee injury in early February 2020.
For the season 2020/21 returned Mbom back to Werder Bremen. His contract was extended early in April 2020.
National team
So far completed Mbom from the U15 internationals for all junior national teams of the DFB .

Personal
Mbom's father is a Cameroonian who played soccer himself and came to Germany to study; through him Jean-Manuel also holds the Cameroonian citizenship. His mother is German. He has a younger brother, Benjamin (* 2004), who is also a soccer player.
