Beginnings

Arp, who is only called by his middle name Fiete, was born in Bad Segeberg in Schleswig-Holstein and grew up with his separated parents in Bad Segeberg and in nearby Wahlstedt . At the age of four he started playing soccer at SV Wahlstedt. His first major success was winning the Gothia Cup 2008 with the U11 selection of the Segeberg district soccer association.

For the 2010/11 season he joined the youth academy of Hamburger SV , he for the first in the E-youth played (U11). In the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons, Arp scored 36 goals in a total of 44 appearances in the B-Junioren-Bundesliga and was the top scorer of the North / Northeast season with 26 goals in the 2016/17 season. The entire winter preparation 2017 - u. a. the training camp in Dubai - completed Arp with the professional team of coach Markus Gisdol . Then he came - in parallel to appearances in the B-Jugend  - in the A-Jugend in the A-Juniors Bundesliga , in which he scored two goals in four games by the end of the season . In July 2017, Arp received the golden Fritz Walter Medal in the U17 age group for his achievements .

First professional years at Hamburger SV

For the 2017/18 season, Arp moved up to the extended professional squad and was next to the squad of the A-youth, for which he was eligible to play for 2 seasons. Before the start of the season, he extended his contract term to June 30, 2019 and completed the summer preparation with the professionals. After the preparation, he again mainly took part in the training of the A-youth, as he was only able to train with the professionals once a week because of his upcoming high school diploma , which he was completing at the Heidberg high school . Nevertheless , after scoring 7 goals in 3 games in the A-Juniors Bundesliga , Markus Gisdol Arp called for the first time in the matchday squad for the northern derby against Werder Bremen on September 30, 2017. In the goalless division of points, Arp made his debut in the Bundesliga at the age of 17 , when he was substituted on for Bobby Wood shortly before the end of the game . This makes him the first Bundesliga player to be born after December 31, 1999. He then took part in the World Cup in India with the U-17 national team and after his return at the end of October 2017, in consultation with the school, was more involved in the professional team training in order to become an integral part of the professional squad.

On October 28, 2017, Arp scored his first goal in a 2-1 defeat of HSV at Hertha BSC in his second Bundesliga appearance when he scored the next goal in the 73rd minute of the game - around 20 minutes after being substituted on. At 17 years and 295 days, he was the seventh-youngest goalscorer in the Bundesliga and the youngest goalscorer of the HSV in the Bundesliga. On the following day, Arp was in the starting line-up for the first time in the 3-1 win against VfB Stuttgart and scored the goal in the 69th minute of the game. In the further course of the season, Arp could not build on these achievements under Gisdol's successors Bernd Hollerbach and Christian Titz , who had already trained him in the B-youth . Due to his high school diploma and a few colds, he also dropped out for a few games or was back in the A-youth. In total, Arp came to 18 Bundesliga appearances (2 goals) and 5 appearances in the A-Jugend (7 goals), with which he was runner-up in the North / Northeast season. With the professionals, however, he had to begin relegating HSV to the 2nd Bundesliga for the first time .

Before the 2018/19 season, Arp extended his contract term to June 30, 2020. At the beginning of February 2019, it was announced that an agreement had been concluded with FC Bayern Munich that included “flexible changeover periods”. The time of the change - July 1, 2019 or July 1, 2020 - was determined by Arp. At the beginning of the season, Arp was the third striker behind Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Manuel Wintzheimer and was not in the matchday squad on the first days of the match, but played three times in the second team in the fourth-class Regionalliga Nord , scoring 3 goals. Arp made his first season appearance with the professionals in the first round of the DFB Cup in a 5-3 win against fifth division club TuS Erndtebrück , in which he scored a goal. Under Titz, Arp made 4 league appearances (2 of them in the starting line-up). After Hannes Wolf took over the team at the end of October 2018, he made 2 starting eleven and 4 joker appearances on the left wing in the league until the winter break, while in the center of the attack Pierre-Michel Lasogga and after his injury Hee-Chan Hwang, who was signed at the end of August were given preference. Also in the second half of the season Arp remained in the reserve role. He came on 6 substitutions and one starting eleven in his last HSV game on the meaningless last match day, before which HSV had already missed the direct re-promotion and on which he scored his only second division goal. In addition, he played 4 more times (no goal) in the second team when he was not in the matchday squad with the professionals.

Change to FC Bayern Munich

Fiete Arp (2019)

For the 2019/20 season, Arp moved to FC Bayern Munich . At the start of the season, he was mostly not in the matchday squad, as head coach Niko Kovač tended to consider the strikers of the second team , Kwasi Okyere Wriedt and Joshua Zirkzee , behind the undisputed Robert Lewandowski for the bank. Therefore, Arp completed his first competitive game for the club with the second team in the third division . At the end of September he broke his scaphoid bone during training and had to undergo an operation. During the international break in November, Arp got back into team training under Kovač's successor Hansi Flick , but two days later in training the spoke broke off and had to wear a plaster cast again , which is why he was out until the end of the first half of the season. During his absence due to injury, the one year younger striker Zirkzee was pulled up by Flick into the professional squad and scored 2 goals after 2 substitutions by the end of the first half of the season. Arp, however, was in the Bundesliga team in the first half of the season before his injuries only once in the matchday squad without being substituted on. In the winter training camp in Doha , Arp got back into team training. At the beginning of February he was deleted from the Champions League squad for the knockout phase for the winter newcomer Álvaro Odriozola . After the winter break, Arp was only a reservist behind Wriedt, Zirkzee and Leon Dajaku in the third division team under Sebastian Hoeneß . After 4 short appearances and a 90-minute game on the bench, he made his first start-up appearances on the 26th and 27th third division match days, scoring one goal each time. The season was then interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic . After the resumption of play, Arp came back to the starting eleven in the first 3 third division games, but injured himself on matchday 30 when he scored his third goal of the season and was again unable to play a few games. In the first team, the striker was once in the league in the second half of the season and once in the DFB Cup in the matchday squad and won the German championship and cup without a stake . For the second team, the striker scored 3 goals in 12 appearances (6 times from the start) and became third division champion.

National team

Arp first played in October 2015 for the German U16 team , for which he made 4 appearances until April 2016. Since September 2016 he has been part of the U17 team. With her, Arp took part in the 2017 European Championships in May 2017 . There he caused a stir when he scored 3 goals each in 2 of the 3 group games - including a flawless hat trick in a record time of 13 minutes. With a total of 7 goals, he finished second on the list of goalscorers behind Frenchman Amine Gouiri (8).

In October 2017, Arp took part in the U17 World Cup in India . There he was used in all 5 games of his team, which were eliminated in the quarter-finals against Brazil , and scored 5 goals. In total, Arp scored 18 goals in 19 appearances for the U17 team. From November 2018 to March 2019 Arp was active in the U19 team , for which he scored 2 goals in 5 games.
