Mert Yılmaz (born March 8, 1999 in Berlin ) is a German-Turkish soccer player . The right-back is under contract with FC Bayern Munich and is a young Turkish national player.

Until the age of 15, Yılmaz played in his hometown of Berlin at Nordberliner SC and Tennis Borussia .

The defender was then under contract with RB Leipzig for four years . With the B-Youth he was in the 2015/16 season of the B-Junior Bundesliga runner-up in the North / Northeast relay behind VfL Wolfsburg . He gained his first international experience with Leipzig's U19s in the UEFA Youth League , but in 2017/18 the team was eliminated from the competition as third in the group. Before the start of the season, the defender and three Leipzig teammates, including his later Munich teammate Kilian Senkbeil , received his first licensed player contract.

For Regionalliga season engaged him Bayern Munich , in the second team , he has been active since then; his contract is valid until June 30, 2021. At the end of the season, the German-Turk, who was on the field in 25 games, won the Bavarian championship with the team and was able to prevail in the promotion games against VfL Wolfsburg II , which meant a return to the third division .

Yılmaz missed the start of the third division season due to injury and was only able to return to team training on matchday 11 or play a game later on the field.

National team

After a nomination for the German U18 (without use), Yılmaz was considered by the Turkish Association for the first time for the U19 selection . At the EM 2018 he played all three group games over the full playing time; Turkey was eliminated pointless.

The right-back has been active for the Turkish U21s since September 2018 , but missed qualifying for the 2021 European Championship due to an injury .
