The SC Tegel was a football club from the Berlin district of Tegel . The club played one year each in the first-class Berlin city league and in the second-class Berlin regional league . The greatest success was winning the German Amateur Championship in 1962.

history

After the end of the Second World War , the Tegel sports group was founded on August 1, 1945 . The sports group was a common successor to the DJK Stern Tegel founded in 1919 , the SC 1924 Tegel , the SpVgg Borsig Tegel founded in 1909 and the FC Amateure Tegel founded in 1920 . In 1948, the Tegel sports group took on the name SC Tegel . Under this name, he was promoted to the second-class amateur league in Berlin in 1950 . The descent followed four years later.

In 1959, the Tegel team returned to the Berlin amateur league and heralded the most successful phase in the club's history. Three years after the promotion, SC Tegel became champions of the amateur league and rose to the then first-class Berlin city league. In addition, the club took part in the German Amateur Championship . After a 4-2 victory over SpVgg Büchenbach and a 1-0 semi-final victory over Phoenix Bellheim , the Tegel team reached the final. In front of 12,000 spectators in the Wuppertal stadium at the zoo , coach Hermann Becker's team beat TuRa Bonn 1-0. Karl Bölk scored the goal of the day. Each player received 200 marks and a dinner as a bonus . In the Berlin upper house it was only enough for the last place in the table . Since the Bundesliga was introduced at the end of the season , the Tegel team fell from first to third class.

In 1965 the team was promoted to the second-rate Berlin Regionalliga and had bad luck in the 1965/66 season . Tegel was third from bottom and had to relegate because SC Tasmania was relegated from the Bundesliga in 1900 and regional league champions Hertha BSC missed promotion to the Bundesliga. Several years followed in the amateur league in Berlin with fourth place in the 1971/72 season as the highlight. Relegation followed a year later. In 1993, the Tegel team made it to the Association League Berlin and thus returned to the top amateur league in Berlin. Four years later, he was relegated to the regional league, but this was immediately answered with promotion. As a lost table bottom of the association league in 1998/99 it went back to the state league. Three years later, he was relegated to the district league. However, SC Tegel should no longer compete there.

On July 1, 2002, SC Tegel merged with SC Heiligensee to form Nordberliner SC . In 1993, after two consecutive promotions, SC Heiligensee was promoted to the Verbandsliga Berlin and was third there two years later, one point behind Meister Köpenicker SC . In 1997, the Heiligenseer were relegated from the Association League and returned to the Association League for the 2000/01 season. The Nordberliner SC succeeded in 2004 as runner-up behind the amateurs of 1. FC Union Berlin, promotion to the Association League Berlin, but had to relegate again after a year. In 2008 they were promoted again to the highest Berlin amateur league, which was renamed the Berlin League at the same time, where the North Berliners were able to hold out for two years this time. The return to the Berlin upper house succeeded in 2013. In 2018, the relegation to the state league followed. The home ground of Nordberliner SC is the Elchdamm sports complex .
