Karl Boelk (born February 8, 1927 ) is a former German football player .

Player career

Karl Boelk initially played for Frohnauer SC . After 87 appearances in the first team, he joined Wacker 04 in 1951 . At Wacker Boelk became a regular player straight away and reached 9th place with his team in the 1951/52 season. Wacker 04 was also able to secure relegation in the following three seasons. The 1955/56 season was ended by the Reinickendorfen as the tied bottom.

Karl Boelk then left Wacker 04 and went to Hertha BSC . Hertha had only been able to stay in the league in the previous season because of the better goal difference compared to Alemannia 90 . Under the new coach Helmut Krüger , Boelk was part of the starting line-up on the first match day of the 1956/57 season and achieved the 4-2 final score against SC Union 06 . At the end of the season, with seven goals in 20 appearances, he had contributed to Hertha surprisingly winning the title by beating championship rivals Tennis Borussia 3-0 on the last match day . As a result, the blue-whites were qualified for the final round of the German championship . There, Herthan took an early lead in the opening game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern through Werner Lange , after which they were downright dismantled by the Red Devils at 1:14 . In the two following games against Kickers Offenbach and Borussia Dortmund , the team around Karl Boelk suffered two defeats and were eliminated in the group stage. In 1957/58 , Karl Boelk was the only Herthan player to play all 22 league games, but his club was unable to build on the strong previous season and finished in 6th place.

At the end of the season, Boelk moved to SC Tegel in the second division. In the 1962/63 season , Tegel made it to the league, but Boelk, who played 15 games (three goals), had to relegate at the bottom. After the founding of the Bundesliga , SC Tegel only played in third class. In 1965 Tegel was able to rise again. At the end of the Regionalliga season 1965/66 , the club missed relegation just behind the Lichterfelder SU . Karl Boelk hadn't played a major role in the coach's plans and only played four games, which is why he ended his playing career at the age of 39 after the season.
