Daniels Ontužāns (born March 7, 2000 in Vangaži ) is a Latvian football player . The midfielder is under contract with FC Bayern Munich and is a Latvian national player.
Career
societies
Ontuzans began his career in the youth teams of Skonto Riga . At the age of eight he came to Germany with his parents. He then played for FC Augsburg before moving to the U11 of FC Bayern Munich in June 2010 . In the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons he played with the B1 Juniors (U17) in the B Junior Bundesliga and became German B Junior Champion in 2017. In the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons Ontuzans was active with the A-Juniors (U19) in the A-Juniors Bundesliga .
For the 2019/20 season Ontuzans moved up to the second team , which had previously been promoted to the 3rd division . During the summer preparation in July, he took part in the USA Tour of the Professionals under head coach Niko Kovač . There Ontuzans suffered a torn capsule and ligament in a friendly against Arsenal , after which he was out until the winter break. In order to gain match practice, he was in the winter break in the Switzerland at the FC St. Gallen on loan, where he was in the squad of the second team (U21), in the fourth-rate first league played. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic , he was not used there.
For the 2020/21 season Ontuzans returned to the second team of FC Bayern, which had become champions of the third division in his absence.
National team
Daniels Ontužāns made his debut in the Latvian national team on June 10, 2019 at the age of 19 . In the European Championship qualifier against Slovenia , which was lost 5-0 in Riga , the midfielder replaced Deniss Rakeļs from the 78th minute.
