In the 2-0 home game against VfL Bochum on November 15, 2010, he was in the starting line-up and scored both goals. During this time he ousted Rob Friend as a striker alongside Adrián Ramos . He and Ramos scored 28 goals together that season; at the end of the season, Hertha BSC rose to the Bundesliga .

Lasogga came this season to two appearances in the DFB Cup and 26 appearances in the league, in which he scored four goals. After the 0-1 defeat against the Spaniards, Germany's U21 national team was eliminated early. In the third insignificant game against Russia Lasogga was not used like some other regular players. Due to his age, he was no longer eligible to play for Germany's U21 national team after the tournament.
