Jörg Böhme (born January 22, 1974 in Hohenmölsen ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .

Career as a player

society

After his youth at Chemie Zeitz , Böhme played as a professional footballer at FC Carl Zeiss Jena , 1. FC Nürnberg , Eintracht Frankfurt , TSV 1860 Munich , Arminia Bielefeld , FC Schalke 04 and Borussia Mönchengladbach . After playing for a maximum of two years in Nuremberg, Frankfurt, Munich and Bielefeld, Böhme moved to FC Schalke 04 in 2000. At Schalke 04, Böhme had the most successful period of his career. He became a national player and won the DFB Cup with Schalke in 2001 and 2002 . In the 2001 cup final, he scored both goals in Schalke's 2-0 win against 1. FC Union Berlin , and a year later he scored 1-1 in a 4-2 final win over Bayer 04 Leverkusen . But Böhme came under criticism again and again. He was accused of unprofessional behavior, indiscipline and selfish play. At times he was suspended.

After two years at Borussia Mönchengladbach, Böhme completed a trial training session with the English first division club FC Fulham in 2006 , which, however, refrained from an obligation. He then returned to Arminia Bielefeld for the 2006/07 season , for whom he had already played from 1998 to 2000. There he played his 50th Bundesliga game for Arminia on April 14, 2007 against Eintracht Frankfurt . In 2008 he ended his professional career due to knee problems. From August 2011 he played as an amateur in the district league A for TuS Ost Bielefeld .

National team

Between 2001 and 2003, the midfielder played ten times for the German national soccer team and scored one goal. At the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan, he was runner-up with the team, but was not used during the tournament.

Career as a coach

After the end of his professional career, he became assistant coach of Arminia Bielefeld's second team in the major league. On January 21, 2010 he was promoted to assistant coach of the Arminen professional team. For the 2010/11 season Böhme took over the management of the U-19 team; in May 2011 he was released from this position. In 2012 Böhme was coach of the national division SC Herford for a few weeks . The sporting director and former Bundesliga keeper Georg Koch had established contact with his former teammate. In 2012/13 he took part in the 59th DFB soccer teacher training course and passed the re-examination in autumn 2013.

On January 3, 2014, he was hired by Energie Cottbus as an assistant coach. There he signed a contract valid until June 30, 2015. After head coach Stephan Schmidt was dismissed on February 24, 2014, he was appointed head coach on an interim basis. Boehme's contract with the Lausitzers was dissolved after the club's relegation to the third division at the end of the 2013/14 season . In the last game of the season at FC Ingolstadt 04 , he was no longer on the bench; U-19 coach René Rydlewicz took his place . For the new season, Stefan Krämer was hired as a coach. In the 2015/16 season, Böhme was assistant coach of the second team at FC Schalke 04 . In March 2018, Böhme took over the state division team Spvg Steinhagen before leaving the club after relegation to the district league in June 2018.
