Stefan Krämer (born March 23, 1967 in Mainz ) is a German football coach . He is currently the head coach of KFC Uerdingen 05 .

Career

As an active football player, Krämer played in the amateur area at FV Bad Honnef in the then Oberliga Nordrhein on the left wing . In the mid-1990s, Krämer moved to the then fourth division club FV Rheinbrohl and became team captain there . After a ligament injury in his knee, he had to end his playing career in his early thirties.

In addition, he completed a teaching degree at the Sports University in Cologne , which he completed as a certified sports teacher. After completing his studies, he continued to work as a research assistant at the Sport University in Cologne. He then worked for an insurance company for nine years, until he took up a full-time coaching job with Arminia Bielefeld .

Coaching career

From 2002 to 2011, Krämer was a trainer at SV Roßbach / Verscheid for nine years , which he made into a permanent fixture in the Oberliga Südwest during this time . Before that he was active as a trainer at FV Rheinbrohl, SV Neuwied and SG Neuwied / Irlich / Hüllenberg.

After Krämer had passed his soccer teacher exam at the Hennes-Weisweiler-Akademie in March 2011 as the fourth-best of his year, he said goodbye to SV Roßbach / Verscheid in summer 2011 to join Arminia Bielefeld as assistant coach under head coach Markus von Ahlen to connect. Krämer had got to know this before while watching the training of the A-youth team at Bayer 04 Leverkusen , where von Ahlen was employed as a coach. After von Ahlen had been dismissed after the tenth match day of the 2011/12 season due to unsuccessfulness, Krämer became interim coach of Arminia. In the second game under his direction, the first win of the season was achieved. After another win and a draw, Krämer finally became head coach of Arminia on November 3, 2011. The 2012/13 season turned out to be a success story for Krämer and Arminia. After the first two games ended in a draw, the team established itself after several victories in the top group of the table and was regularly on a promotion or relegation place. When it became clear that Arminia would play for promotion, the media speculated about a possible departure of the successful coach. In the end, however, on March 7, 2013, two days before the prestigious home game against Preußen Münster , the club announced the league-independent contract extension with Krämer until 2015. After Arminia had lost just one game from December 2012 to May 2013, Krämer and his team celebrated promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga on the penultimate match day with a 1-0 win over VfL Osnabrück. The 2013/14 season in the 2nd Bundesliga started unexpectedly successfully. After eight game days, Krämer was in third place with the Arminia. This was followed, however, by a series of seven defeats in a row, which put Kramer under considerable pressure, whereby the support among the supporters remained large. Although this negative series could be broken with a win against FSV Frankfurt, Arminia did not succeed in breaking free from the table cellar in the following weeks. After defeats against local rivals SC Paderborn 07 and FC Ingolstadt 04 , Krämer was released as head coach on February 23, 2014.

For the 2014/15 season , Krämer became Energie Cottbus' new coach in the 3rd division with a contract term until 2016. On May 6, 2015, he won the Krombacher Pokal Brandenburg with Energie Cottbus . On September 19, 2015, the club separated from him.

From January 3, 2016, Krämer was a coach at FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt as the successor to Christian Preußer . In October 2017 he was released from his duties in Erfurt after three defeats in a row and the associated slippage to the last place in the table in the 3rd division.

On March 15, 2018, Krämer was introduced as the coach of the KFC Uerdingen regional league team, succeeding Michael Wiesinger, who was previously on leave . At the end of the season he rose with the team in the 3rd division . The association released him on January 28, 2019. Although the Uerdingen had finished the first half of the season with 3rd place in the table, they clearly lost the last competitive game before and the first after the winter break with a total of 0: 7 goals.

For the 2019/20 third division season , the relegated second division 1. FC Magdeburg Krämer signed up as the new head coach; his engagement began on June 17, 2019. Since Magdeburg was in twelfth place in the table after 20 games played during the winter break and the club's management saw the targeted promotion endangered, the separation from Krämer was completed.

In March 2020, Krämer returned to KFC Uerdingen as head coach, where he succeeded Danielsteueragel .

Trivia

In his private life, Krämer is a fan of 1. FC Köln and Hamburger SV . His role model as a football coach is Valery Lobanovsky . During his studies at the Sports University in Cologne, he played as a DJ in pubs.

From October 15, 2011, the day of Arminia Bielefeld's first win in the 2011/12 season , Krämer always wore a short-sleeved coaching shirt as a good luck charm at all Arminia Bielefeld competitive games , regardless of weather conditions and temperatures . He wore this until January 21, 2012, when Arminia suffered the first, from Krämer's point of view, fair defeat since the first win of the season. In the meantime, the East Westphalia had lost after three controversial penalty decisions at FC Carl Zeiss Jena .

At the beginning of his engagement as a coach at Arminia Bielefeld, Krämer bet that he would get a tattoo of the club's logo in the event of promotion to the 2nd division . When the ascent was actually made perfect in 2013, Krämer kept this promise by having an Arminia flag with the date of the ascent, May 11, 2013, stabbed on his left chest.
