Edvinas Girdvainis (born January 17, 1993 in Klaipėda ) is a Lithuanian football player . The central defender is under contract with KFC Uerdingen 05 in Germany and is a Lithuanian national player.

Career

society

Girdvainis was trained in his youth with the Lithuanian record champions FBK Kaunas and in Italy with Calcio Padova .

From summer 2012 to summer 2014, after returning to his homeland, he was able to gain his first experience in the men's field with Ekranas Panevėžys . In the Europa League, the group stage failed after qualifying defeats against RSC Anderlecht ; Overall, the defender was on the field in 45 competitive games. After missing the European Cup again, Girdvainis moved to the Spanish third division club FC Marbella on a free transfer , with whom he only played to stay in class as a regular.

He then spent the 2016/17 season at the Polish first division club Piast Gliwice , for which he only made eleven appearances. This was followed by a one-year loan to Tom Tomsk in Russia . With the second division Girdvainis was table fifteenth and held the class.

After a sale in the summer of 2018 to Hapoel Tel Aviv from the first Israeli league, for which the Lithuanian never appeared, he went to Azerbaijan for FK Keşlə in August 2018 . He ran in 19 competitive games for the club and was able to achieve his first goal in professional football in the Premyer Liqası .

His next stop was Latvia , where he was signed by the FK RFS . In the second half of Virslīga 2019 , the defender made 14 appearances and was also used three times in the national cup , which he won with the club after a 3-2 win over FK Jelgava in extra time.

His contract, which was valid until the end of the season, was not extended, so that the Lithuanian was without a club from November 2019. During the winter break, he was signed by the German third division team KFC Uerdingen 05 , with whom he received a contract valid until June 2021.

National team

Girdvainis completed international matches for the Lithuanian U19 . Then he was fourteen times for the U21 on the field, with whom he denied three unsuccessful European Championship qualifications.

Under the then head coach Edgaras Jankauskas , the defender made his debut in a friendly against Romania for his home country's A-selection in March 2016 .
