Manuel Konrad (born April 14, 1988 in Illertissen ) is a German football player who is mostly used in defensive midfield. Since summer 2018 he has been playing for third division club KFC Uerdingen 05 .
Career
In his youth Konrad played for TSV Obenhausen , TSV Neu-Ulm and SSV Ulm 1846 . In 2003 he moved to the youth department of SC Freiburg . About the youth teams and the second team of the SC, he came in the 2006/07 season to a professional contract. Nevertheless, he mostly gained match practice in the top division team.
In the first half of the 2006/07 season he made his first professional appearance when he was on the pitch for one half of the game against SpVgg Unterhaching on August 25, 2006 . In autumn 2007 he was awarded the Fritz Walter Medal in silver for the U-19 class. After a total of only four second division games in two and a half seasons, he was loaned to third division SpVgg Unterhaching during the winter break of the 2008/09 season and joined the club permanently in summer 2009. For SpVgg he scored his first goal in professional football on matchday 26 against SSV Jahn Regensburg .
In May 2010 Konrad signed a contract with the second division club FSV Frankfurt . The contract ran until the end of the 2011/12 season. At first he only had a regular place in the U-23 team of the FSV in the Regionalliga Süd, from the tenth game day coach Hans-Jürgen Boysen put him on the left-back position, unfamiliar for Konrad, after the injury-related loss of Andreas Dahlén and Marc Stein . Also in the 2011/12 season he hardly got a chance at first, as Nils Teixeira was a new addition to the position as left-back. In the second half of the season he stepped in as a central defender when Björn Schlicke or Gledson were absent due to injury . Under the new coach Benno Möhlmann , Konrad was often in the starting line-up in this position at the end of the round and made a total of 14 appearances. His contract term was extended by one year. From June 2014 Konrad was team captain of FSV Frankfurt; his contract ran until June 30, 2018.
On May 26, 2016, second division promoted Dynamo Dresden announced the commitment of Konrad. He signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2018.
After his contract expired in 2018, he switched to third division KFC Uerdingen for the 2018/19 season , with Konrad signed a contract until 2021.
