Kevin Ehlers (born January 23, 2001 in Munich ) is a German soccer player . The defender has been under contract with Dynamo Dresden since 2017 .
Life
Kevin Ehlers is the son of handball player Silvana Ehlers and the former soccer player and current trainer Uwe Ehlers . He started playing soccer in 2006 at FC Erzgebirge Aue , where his father was under contract as part of the second division team at that time . After his father changed to VfL Osnabrück , Kevin Ehlers also left the Erzgebirgsverein at the beginning of the 2007/08 season. He played for SV Rot-Weiß Sutthausen until 2009 , before moving to the local youth team when his father moved to FC Hansa Rostock . At the Ostseeklub he played for various youth teams until 2017 and was part of the U14 and U16 state selection of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania before he moved to the young talent center of Dynamo Dresden . In Dresden, Ehlers first played for the club's U17 and U19 teams in the B-Junior and A-Junior Bundesliga .
In January 2018, at the age of 16, he was appointed to the second division team's training camp for the first time by coach Uwe Neuhaus . At the start of the 2018/19 season, Ehlers was again part of a training camp squad of the professional team. On February 23, 2019, the 23rd matchday of the 2018/19 season , he was appointed to the squad of the second division team for the first time by coach Maik Walpurgis for the game against SV Darmstadt 98 . In April 2019 he signed a four-year contract with the Dresden club, which will run until 2023, and subsequently moved up to the first team's squad for the 2019/20 season . Ehlers made his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga on July 27, 2019, the 1st matchday of the 2019/20 season. In the 0-1 home defeat against 1. FC Nürnberg , he was in the starting line-up of coach Cristian Fiél and completed the full game.
