Sutthausen is a district of Osnabrück with 4,714 inhabitants (12/2018) spread over an area of ​​4.42 km². Historical

Sutthausen was part of the municipality of Holzhausen until it was incorporated into Osnabrück on March 7, 1970 . The district Alt-Holzhausen is now part of Georgsmarienhütte .

Good Sutthausen

The Sutthausen estate was first mentioned in a document in 1282. The former owner was the squire Johann von Sutthausen. The name arose from the southern location of Osnabrück. The castle moats are fed via the Düte , a nearby small river. Over the centuries the castle changed hands and in 1935 it became the property of the Thuin Sisters of the Franciscan Order . They founded the 'Berufsfachschule am Marienheim' specializing in housekeeping , child care , social care and social assistant .

The castle chapel , built in 1893, and the mill from 1589 belong to the property. The area is surrounded by an extensive park with ponds.

Well Wulften

The first written mention of the Wulften estate is from the year 1147. At that time it was probably the seat of the Osnabrück family Wulvena. After frequent changes of ownership, the castle was bought by the city of Osnabrück in 1929. The one-class Catholic school was housed there until 1936. After the severe damage caused by the Second World War, the castle fell into disrepair and was rebuilt and renovated in 1962 by the merchant Emil Krone. Today the building houses 20 apartments and an English antiques shop.

Wulfter tower

The Wulfter Tower was built around 1300 during the establishment of the Osnabrück Landwehr. It is the last surviving tower of its kind. Part of the Osnabrück Landwehr with ramparts and trenches can still be seen in the vicinity of the tower.

The station Osnabrück Sutthausen is located on the railway line Osnabrück-Bielefeld ( KBS 402 ) on the hourly, the regional train "Haller Willem" RB 75 runs.
