history

When in 1147 the affiliation of the farmers to the Osnabrück churches was reorganized and several former farmers were assigned to the parish of St. Johann , Holzhausen (Holthusen) was first mentioned in a document. In 1856 the Georgs-Marien-Bergwerks- und Hüttenverein built an ironworks in the municipality of Malbergen , which is also part of Georgsmarienhütte today . In 1886, citizens founded the Sutthausen / Holzhausen shooting club . Holzhausen became its own Catholic pastoral care district in 1924. In the same year the football club DJK Holzhausen was founded, which is now called BSV Holzhausen 1924 eV. In 1938 Malbergen and parts of Holzhausen were incorporated into Georgsmarienhütte. In 1970 the rural communities of Oesede , Oesede Monastery, Harderberg, Holsten-Mündrup, southern Holzhausen and the industrial village of Georgsmarienhütte merged to form the town of Georgsmarienhütte. The north of the community, Sutthausen, became part of the city of Osnabrück.
