Peniel Kokou Mlapa (born February 20, 1991 in Lomé , Togo ) is a German - Togolese football player . He currently plays for the Al Ittihad Kalba Sports Club in the UAE Arabian Gulf League .

Mlapa came to Munich at the age of two and initially played for FC Unterföhring . In 1999 he moved to TSV 1860 Munich , where he went through all youth teams up to the U19. On September 12, 2008, he came to his first assignment in the Regionalliga Süd when he was substituted in for the Munich U23 game against FC Heidenheim . In the course of the 2008/09 season he booked two more short appearances in the TSV 1860 reserve team, but was still a regular in the U19.

TSV 1860 Munich

On May 17, 2009, Mlapa made his debut in professional football. In the second division game of 1860 against Alemannia Aachen he was substituted on in stoppage time. He was also used in the last game of the season at 1. FC Nürnberg . In the summer of 2009 he played the season preparation with the professional team. He was then formally appointed to the professional squad. He scored his first second division goal for 1860 on October 4, 2009 in a game at FC St. Pauli . In the following game against MSV Duisburg Mlapa was on the starting line-up for the first time and scored another goal. Until 2010, he played 23 league games for Munich, in which he scored six goals. He also played in the DFB Cup twice and scored five goals in 13 games for the second team.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim

In the summer of 2010 Mlapa moved to the Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim , with whom he signed a contract that ran until 2013. He scored his first goal for TSG Hoffenheim on August 14, 2010 in the DFB Cup match against Hansa Rostock .

Borussia Monchengladbach

For the 2012/13 season Mlapa moved to league rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach . He signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2016. He played his first game for his new club on October 25, 2012 in the Europa League group stage in a 2-0 win over Olympique Marseille . Mlapa scored 125 seconds after substituting for the final score. On March 9, 2013 (25th matchday) in a 1-1 home game against SV Werder Bremen , he scored his first Bundesliga goal for his club with the goal to make it 1-0 in the 72nd minute.

1. FC Nuremberg

For the 2014/15 season , Mlapa was loaned to 1. FC Nürnberg in the second division . He made his debut on matchday 1 against FC Erzgebirge Aue and prepared the 1-0 winning goal. On the 4th matchday, Mlapa scored 19 seconds after his substitution to make it 3-0 against 1. FC Union Berlin .

VfL Bochum

On August 7, 2015 Mlapa moved to VfL Bochum in the second Bundesliga . He made his league debut in Bochum's jersey on August 23, 2015 (2nd matchday) in a game against his former club 1. FC Nürnberg. He scored his first goal on September 25, 2015 (9th matchday) in VfL's 2-1 home defeat against 1. FC Kaiserslautern . He played a total of 62 league games for VfL, scoring 13 goals.

SG Dynamo Dresden

On August 31, 2017, Mlapa moved to Dynamo Dresden . He signed a contract until June 2020.

VVV-Venlo

In the summer of 2018, Mlapa was initially awarded to VVV-Venlo for one year , and there was also a purchase option, which the Dutch drew in spring 2019 after the striker had contributed 15 goals in 30 league games.

Al Ittihad Kalba Sports Club

Despite the purchase option, Mlapa did not last long in Venlo. In the summer of 2019, he switched to Al Ittihad Kalba Sports Club in the United Arab Emirates , where he signed a two-year contract.

National team

On October 7, 2009 Mlapa made his debut for the German U19 selection in the game against Luxembourg. A few weeks later he was appointed to the squad of the Togolese national team for the last remaining World Cup qualifier . However, he declined this invitation in order to continue playing for the DFB's youth teams. With the German U21 team , he qualified for the 2013 European Championship in Israel in October 2012 . On June 1, 2017, he made his debut for the Togo selection.
