Florian Jungwirth (born January 27, 1989 in Graefelfing ) is a German soccer player . He is under contract with the San José Earthquakes .

Career

TSV 1860 Munich

Jungwirth started playing football in Karlsfeld at TSV Eintracht Karlsfeld, which is located on the northwestern outskirts of Munich in the Dachau district . In May 2000 he moved to the youth department of TSV 1860 Munich , went through the age groups U-11 to U-19, won the German B-youth championship with the U-17 youth team in 2006 and in the following year with the U-19 The youth team won the DFB Junior Club Cup .

From the 2007/08 season Jungwirth was a member of the regional league squad of the U-23 youth team. He made his senior debut on September 15, 2007 (8th matchday) in a 3-0 home win against VfR Aalen from the start; by the end of 2009 he was used 48 times in the reserve team of the "lions".

In summer 2008 he was appointed to the professional squad. Jungwirth sat eleven times on the bench there in the 2008/09 season , but was never used. In the first half of the 2009/10 season he was not part of the professional squad in any game and only made seven appearances in the second team.

SG Dynamo Dresden

In January 2010 Jungwirth left the "Sechzger" and signed with the third division Dynamo Dresden . There he made his professional debut on February 6, 2010 (23rd matchday) when he was on the starting line-up in a 2-0 home win against FC Bayern Munich II . After eleven appearances in the jersey Dynamo Dresden Jungwirth suffered at 33. Match on 10 April 2010 at the 2: 0 win at home against FC Ingolstadt 04 a cruciate ligament injury . He was out for over half a year and thus missed the entire preparation for the 2010/11 season . On October 23, 2010 (13th matchday), Jungwirth returned to play in a 2-2 draw in the home game against Hansa Rostock . In the same season he reached promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga with the Elbestädtern after they had prevailed in the relegation - after two legs - against VfL Osnabrück . In the following two seasons Jungwirth played 53 second division games for Dynamo Dresden; his contract, which expired in summer 2013, was not extended.

VfL Bochum and Darmstadt 98

For the 2013/14 season Jungwirth received a two-year contract with VfL Bochum, but this was terminated a year later. He moved within the second division to the promoted SV Darmstadt 98 , with whom he rose to second place in the Bundesliga at the end of the season . As a defender, he had contributed to this with 27 appearances. On the first day of the 2015/16 season , Jungwirth made his Bundesliga debut in the game against Hannover 96 ; 18 more missions followed in the season and relegation with the team.

San Jose Earthquakes

At the end of January 2017, Jungwirth left Darmstadt and moved to Major League Soccer with the San José Earthquakes .

National team

Florian Jungwirth was a member of the U-16 to the U-20 national team in the regular line-up of the respective DFB junior selection teams . In 2006 he took part with the U-17 selection at the European Championships in Luxembourg , which ended with fourth place. In 2008 he led the U-19 national team to the title as captain at the European Championships in the Czech Republic . In 2009 he was the captain of the U-20 national team at the World Cup in Egypt . He played five tournament games over 90 minutes each, scored one goal and was eliminated with the team in the quarter-finals . Jungwirth was awarded the Fritz Walter Medal in silver (U-19) by the DFB in August 2008 as one of the outstanding talents in German football.
