The German U-17 national soccer team is a national team of the DFB , which only includes players from the older age group of the B-Juniors and who are German citizens. Michael Feichtenbeiner is currently responsible for the DFB's U-17 juniors.

history

In the A 2 junior selection (U-17), which has been renamed B 1 juniors since 2001, only players under the age of 17 are eligible to play and, due to a rule change with regard to the reference date (from August 1 to January 1, one Year) emerged from the U-16 national team , whose players were not allowed to have reached the age of 16.

Game operation

In contrast to the U-16 juniors, UEFA ( European championships ) and FIFA ( world championships ) competitions are organized for the U-17 juniors . First held biennially in 1982 and annually from 1985 onwards, Germany took part in 28 tournaments 19 times in European championships; Nine times they failed to qualify for the final round, four times they were eliminated in the group stage and in the quarter-finals (three times in a row by penalty shootouts ). Three times third, twice second and three times European champion were the positive results. At the world championships, which have been held for the first time since 1985 and every two years, a U-17 national team failed to qualify for the finals six times, twice they were eliminated after the group stage, once each in the second round and quarter-finals. Once third (after eight years of abstinence) and once second were the positive results. In the last U-17 World Cup in 2011 , the team reached the semi-finals by losing 3-2 against the hosts and eventual world champions Mexico with a goal in the 90th minute. The small final against Brazil was won 4: 3. The team scored the most goals in the tournament (24).

As of March 27, 2018 , 553 games have been played so far .
