The final round of the 30th U-17 European Football Championship took place from May 4th to 16th, 2012 in Slovenia . In the final, the two finalists from the previous year, Germany and the Netherlands, faced each other again and the Dutch won again.
qualification
52 U-17 national teams - including all members of UEFA apart from hosts Slovenia - took part in the first qualifying round. Host Slovenia was the only team to automatically qualify for the finals.
The first qualifying round began on September 21, 2011 and was completed on November 2, 2011. The elite round began on March 20, 2012 and ended on March 31, 2012.
In the first qualifying round, Germany and Switzerland were able to prevail and reach the elite round. Germany won all of their three games without conceding a goal - 5-0 against hosts Estonia, 1-0 against Albania and 2-0 against Slovakia. The Swiss ended up in second place in their group after a win (5: 1) against Iceland, a draw (0: 0) against Greece and a loss (2: 3) against hosts Israel. Austria failed to qualify in their group when they won one win (2-0 against Cyprus) and two losses (1-2 against hosts Denmark and 3-2 against Italy).
In the elite round, Germany prevailed as hosts with two wins (4: 0 against Turkey and 2: 1 against Bulgaria) and a draw (0: 0 against Portugal) as the first in the table. The Swiss players lost all their games (0-2 against Sweden, 1-2 against hosts France and Italy) and ended up in last place.

The eight qualified teams were divided into two groups of four teams each. Within the groups, each team played each other once. The group winners and runners-up reached the semi-finals. Their winners reached the final; Third place was not played out. The regular playing time was 40 minutes twice. From the semi-finals onwards, after regular playing time there was no extra time after a draw, but a penalty shoot-out immediately afterwards .

The final round matches were played in four cities, the regional capital Ljubljana ( Stožice Stadium ), as well as in Maribor ( Ljudski vrt ), Domžale ( Domžale Stadium ) and Lendava ( Športni park Lendava ).
Preliminary round
The preliminary round was held in two groups with four teams each. The two group winners and runners-up qualified for the semifinals. In the event of a tie, first the direct comparison and then the goal difference decided the ranking.
