1996 European Under-18 Football Championship
The 12th U-18 European Football Championship was held between July 23 and 30, 1996 in France and Luxembourg . The French team won by beating defending champions Spain 1-0 . Like Austria and Switzerland, Germany could not qualify.

The eight qualified teams are divided into two groups of four teams each. Within the groups, each team plays each other once. The two group winners reach the final while the runners-up play for third place. In addition to the semi-finalists, the third group qualify for the 1997 Junior World Cup .
