U-21 European Football Championship 2019 / Qualification

On the qualification for UEFA European Under-21 Championship in 2019 to 54 member associations of the participating UEFA . The U-21 teams from Kosovo and Gibraltar were there for the first time . Italy's U-21s , as the organizers of the finals, had already qualified for this.

The 54 national teams were drawn into nine groups of six teams each. The national selections played their matches from March 25, 2017 onwards and backwards.

The nine group winners qualified directly for the final round. The four best runners-up in the group - the results against the respective first, third, fourth and fifth group - were qualified for the play-offs. In these, the last two participants for the final round were determined in two pairings with a return game.

All teams were divided into six pots of nine teams each. The coefficients of the participants were decisive for the pot division, with those in pot A having the highest and those in pot F the lowest. Nine groups were formed from these six pots.

Group draw

The group draw took place on January 26, 2017 in Nyon. The UEFA Executive Committee and the UEFA Emergency Committee decided prior to the draw that political tension meant that Spain would not face Gibraltar and Kosovo would not face Serbia or Bosnia and Herzegovina.
