history

The Arsenal Stadium in Tula, a city of about half a million people in the Central Federal District, was built in 1959 and opened on August 29 of the same year. On the same day, the future user association of the sports facility, the football club Arsenal Tula , and a player representative from the Soviet capital Moscow met for the first game in the newly built stadium. From 1959, this was used by Arsenal Tula as a venue for home football matches. The club spent the Soviet era primarily in the second or third highest division, but never made the leap into the first class. It was not until 2013/14 that Arsenal, after whose club name the stadium is based, secured the first promotion in the club's history to the Premjer League , Russia's top division in football , by finishing second in the 1st division only behind Mordovia Saransk .

The Arsenal Stadium in Tula currently has seats for 20,048 spectators, making it the largest stadium in the city. It only has seats.

On May 19, 1999 an international match of the Russian national football team took place in the arena for the first and to this day only time , the opponent here was neighboring Belarus . As part of the first division promotion of Arsenal Tula in 2014, minor renovations were carried out at the Arsenal stadium, making the stadium suitable for games in the highest Russian football league. Changes to the stadium had already been made in 1996, for example the conversion into a pure seating arena.
