The VTB Arena ( proper spelling : VTB Arena ; Russian ВТБ Арена ), which is also called Lev-Yashin Stadium, is a football stadium with an attached multi-purpose hall in the Russian capital Moscow . The main sporting users are the football club FK Dynamo Moscow and the ice hockey club HK Dynamo Moscow .

history

In 2008 the Dynamo Stadium , which was opened in 1928 and hosted by FK Dynamo, was closed and not completely demolished in 2011. The old masonry in the west was not torn down, it was restored and integrated into the new architecture , where the architect was inspired by a Fabergé egg . Until the completion of the new venue, FK Dynamo will be based in the Chimki arena . The first plans come from the architect Erick van Egeraat in 2010, even before the 2018 World Cup was awarded to Russia. These envisaged the construction of a football stadium (around 45,000 seats) with a closable roof and an attached multi-purpose hall (12,770 seats) within the old stadium walls. The VTB-Arena is part of the VTB-Arena-Park complex and will offer a shopping center , a Dynamo club museum and a large underground car park . Furthermore, the two arenas over to VIP - boxes and catering area with restaurants. In addition, there is a VVIP area on level 3 with its own parking spaces, a separate entrance on Moskauer Allee, a lobby with a bar , its own elevators with direct access to the VVIP area and two conference rooms . In addition, it must be within the VTB Arena Park , a five-star - hotel , four  office buildings , several apartment buildings, a conference center and a sports academy for the whole club Dynamo Moscow give. The new VTB Arena was on the list of Russia's bidding for the 2018 World Cup as a possible venue. However, FIFA preferred the Otkrytije Arena , Spartak Moscow's stadium , which was already under construction in October 2010. Between 2011 and 2012, MANICA Architecture's plans were revised in order to adapt them to the new circumstances. The biggest changes to cut costs were the reduction in the capacity of the soccer arena to less than 30,000 seats and the elimination of the closable roof and the simplification of the facade cladding. Initially, the French construction company Vinci Construction was commissioned with the construction. In July 2014, the Italian company Codest took over after the contract was mutually dissolved after disputes in May of that year.

In September 2018, the VTB credit institute confirmed the sponsorship agreement with the new sports complex. It runs for four years until 31 July 2022, and has a financial volume of 2.4 billion  RUB (approximately 32.1 million  euros ). The opening date had to be postponed several times because the construction work was delayed. Initially, it was planned for October 22, 2017, the birthday of Dynamo's goalkeeper legend Lev Yashin . There should be a friendly game against FC Barcelona later in early 2018 . Now they wanted to celebrate the opening in April 2018. On June 5, 2018, the last preparatory game of the Russian national soccer team before the World Cup against Turkey (1: 1) was scheduled. The new date could not be kept due to the persistent winter weather. The game had to be moved to the WEB Arena . The stadium's opening date has now been set for March 10, 2019, when FK Dynamo will face city ​​rivals Spartak Moscow on matchday 19 of the Premjer League . The ice hockey arena was opened on January 4th with a game between the hosts and Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg (2-0) in front of 10,797 spectators. The event hall bears the name Arkadi Tschernyschow Arena , after the long-time dynamo player and coach Arkadi Ivanovich Tschernyschow .

On February 17, 2019, the all-star game of the basketball league VTB United League took place in the multi-purpose arena.
