history

The building complex with a total of three ice rinks is part of the Park of Legends , a comprehensive new building project on the site of the former ZiL automobile plant . Further buildings are being planned that will include a water sports arena, an ice hockey museum including the Russian ice hockey hall of fame, a hotel and apartments. The name sponsor of the arena was the credit institute VTB until 2018 . The building has been called the CSKA Arena since August 2018 .

The arena consists of three ice rinks with different capacities: the large hall accommodates up to 14,000 spectators for concerts, the small one is designed for 3,500 visitors and the training ice hall for up to 200 spectators.

The Ice Palace was used by the HK Dynamo Moscow ice hockey team from the 2015/16 to 2018 season . In the 2018/19 season, HK Dynamo will initially use the Megasport Arena before it will play its home games in the newly built VTB Arena from January 2019 . The city rivals of HK Dynamo, HK ZSKA and HK Spartak use the ice arena for their home games.

In May 2016, the Ice Palace was also one of the two venues for the men's ice hockey world championship .
