The Arena Riga ( Latvian Arēna Rīga ) is a multi-purpose hall in the Latvian capital Riga . It opened in 2006 and is mainly used for ice hockey and basketball games.

The arena was built on the occasion of the 2006 Ice Hockey World Championship , which took place in the Arena Riga and Skonto Arena . The hall has a lower and an upper tier and seats 11,000 spectators. Boxes and VIP seats are set up between the two tiers. Since the World Cup, the hall has also been used for concerts and as a conference and congress center.

Together with the Belarusian Minsk arena , the arena Riga will be the venue for the ice hockey world championship in 2021 .
