The Tatneft Arena ( Russian Татнефть-Арена , official spelling TatNeft Arena ) is a multifunctional arena in Kazan , Russia . The hall has a total capacity of 10,000 seats and is the home stadium of the ice hockey club Ak Bars Kazan , which has played in the Continental Hockey League since the 2008/09 season .
History, dates and usage
The arena opened on December 25, 2005, and the construction costs were estimated at 35 million euros. The hall has an ice surface according to international standards (61 × 30 m) and a total floor area of 28,000 m². After the inauguration, the Russian club Ak Bars Kazan , which played in the Superleague until 2008 and today competes in the Continental Hockey League , moved from its previous home stadium, the Kazan Sports Palace , to the Tatneft Arena. The arena is named after the Russian oil company Tatneft .
From November 19 to 21, 2014, the Türkvizyon Song Contest 2014 took place in the hall .
