The Bolshoi Ice Palace ( Russian Ледовый дворец “Большой” ) is a multifunctional arena in Sochi , Russia . In addition to the Schaiba ice arena, the arena was the venue for the 2014 Olympic ice hockey tournaments . The hall has hosted the home games of the HK Sochi ice hockey club from the Continental Hockey League since 2014 .

history

The arena was completed in 2012 and can hold a maximum of 12,000 spectators. Originally, the arena was supposed to cost around US $ 180 million to build, but in the end the cost of construction was US $ 300 million. As a test competition in the run-up to the Winter Olympics, the U18 Junior Ice Hockey World Championship was held in Sochi in April 2013 .

For the 2014/15 season , the newly founded HK Sotschi from the KHL began playing in the arena. The hall in Sochi was selected for the KHL All-Star Game 2015 , which will take place on January 25th . The arena is also used for concerts.
