Birgit Scherzer
Birgit Scherzer (born July 14, 1954 in Stollberg in the Erzgebirge ) is a German choreographer .
Life
Scherzer was born in 1954 as the daughter of a fitter and a carpenter. In 1973 she graduated from high school in Stollberg. She then completed dance training at the Palucca School in Dresden by 1976 . She received various engagements as a dancer and choreographer at the Landestheater Halle and the Komische Oper Berlin . From 1991 to 1999 she was choreographer and head of the ballet of the Saarland State Theater in Saarbrücken, from 2000 freelance choreographer and director and since 2001 professor at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. From 2006 to 2009 she was the ballet director and chief choreographer at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck . Since 2009 she has been working freelance again.
