The Krasnodar Stadium ( Russian Стадион ФК "Краснодар" , Stadium FK Krasnodar) is a football stadium in the Russian city ​​of Krasnodar . It is home to the games of the football club FK Krasnodar in the Premjer League , while the Kuban Stadium is being renovated for FK Kuban Krasnodar . It has 33,979 spectator seats, including 3,197 VIP - and lodges courts.

history

The Krasnodar Stadium was designed by Gerkan, Marg and Partners together with SPeeCH Architecture Office and built by Esta Construction from April 2013 until it was commissioned in September 2016. The roof membrane is held in place by a stay cable construction and covers all spectator seats. Infrared heating is installed under the roof for the cold days . The construction costs amounted to 20 billion rubles (approx. 290 million euros ). The first game took place with a friendly match between the Russian national team and Costa Rica on October 9, 2016. The first home game of FK Krasnodar was played on October 20, 2016 in the UEFA Europa League 2016/17 against FC Schalke 04 (0: 1).

A special feature is the 5,000 m² large video wall in the interior of the stadium. It extends all around above the upper tier. Next to the circular and 42 meter high stadium is the club's modern training center with 15 football pitches, players' accommodation and other buildings.

The new building was not taken into account when selecting the venues for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

International matches

So far, the Russian men's national football team has played two games at the Krasnodar Stadium. There was also a friendly game between the Argentines and Nigeria.
