The FK Arsenal Tula ( Russian Футбольный клуб Арсенал Тула ) is a Russian football club from Tula .
Club history
The association was founded in 1946 as Zenit Tula . Until the collapse of the Soviet Union , the team played mostly in the third-highest division of the USSR , as well as some seasons in the second-rate Pervaya League .
In 1992 the team from Tula started in the 2nd division , the third highest division in the new Russian league system. From 1998 to 2001 the team took part in the game operations of the second highest Russian league . Also in the 2004 season the club was second class. In 2013, by winning the zone championship in the 2nd division, the promotion could be celebrated.
One match day before the end of the 2013/14 season, Arsenal secured the runner-up in the 1st division and the associated promotion to the Russian House of Lords . In the 2014/15 season , the team finished last in the table and thus rose again to the 1st division. Two game days before the end of the 2015/16 season , Arsenal secured an immediate promotion to the Premjer league. In October 2016, Sergei Kirjakow was signed as the new head coach. In the 2016/17 season , the club saved itself to 14th place in the table (relegation place). In the relegation, Tula met Yenisei Krasnoyarsk and secured relegation after 1: 2 and 1: 0 through the away goals rule . Immediately thereafter, Sergei Kirjakow was dismissed as head coach.
With sixth place in the table in 2019, the club took part for the first time in the qualifying phase of the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League , where they were eliminated in the second qualifying round against Neftçi Baku from Azerbaijan .
