Athletic career

Filippenkow began his adult career at FC Iskra Smolensk , for which he played in the third division after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1992. Even after the merger with local rivals FC Kristall Smolensk in early 1995, he remained loyal to the club, which rose to the second division at the end of the following season.

In early 1998 Filippenkow moved to the PFK CSKA Moscow in the Supreme Division . While he was runner-up with the team behind local rivals Spartak , he became a national player : In November of that year he played an international match for the Russian national team in a 5-1 defeat against Brazil . In 2000 the team reached the final of the Russian National Cup , but lost the city derby against Lokomotiv Moscow after extra time. He was replaced by Artjem Jenin shortly before the end of regular time .

In 2001 Filippenkow left CSKA and became a wanderer from then on. First he moved to the first division relegated Chernomorets Novorossiysk , which he left, however, despite successful re-promotion towards Kristall Smolensk. After one year at Arsenal Tula and FK Astana-1964 in Kazakhstan, he moved to Dynamo Bryansk in the 1st division in 2005 . With the club he reached the cup semi-finals in 2007, but was defeated there by FK Moscow . He then let his career come to an end at FK Metallurg Lipetsk and FC Dnjepr Smolensk in the lower league area.

In the fall of 2015, Filippenkow suffered a heart attack at a charity match between former soccer players and died at the age of 44.
