Ján Mucha (born December 5, 1982 in Belá nad Cirochou , Czechoslovakia (now Slovakia )) is a Slovak football player . He is a goalkeeper in the Slovak national soccer team and under contract with Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza .

Career

Ján Mucha started playing football at Slovan Belá nad Cirochou in his birthplace. Through the stations MŠK Snina and AŠK Inter Bratislava , he joined the Slovak top club MŠK Žilina in 2002 as a 20-year-old . Here he became two Slovak champions and also won the Slovak Supercup. In 2005 he moved to Poland to the top club Legia Warsaw . In his first two seasons he was still number 2 behind Łukasz Fabiański . For the 2007/08 season he was a regular goalkeeper and one of the best goalkeepers in the Polish Ekstraklasa . In 2010 he moved to the English Premier League for Everton FC , where he has only been used in cup competitions so far.

National team

After appearances in the U-19 and U-21 selection of Slovakia , Ján Mucha made his debut on February 6, 2008 in a friendly against Hungary (1: 1) for the Slovak national team . With the Slovak national team he qualified for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa . At this tournament he was a regular goalkeeper and played all four games of his team.

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was number 1 in the Slovak squad , but was only a substitute in goal. The two substitute goalkeepers were the only two members of the squad who remained without tournament participation.
