Career

society

Emmanuel Yaw Frimpong was born in Kumasi but moved to Tottenham as a child , where he was discovered by Arsenal FC scouts . He attended Gladesmore Community School in Tottenham but dropped out at the age of fourteen to focus fully on football at Arsenal.

He joined Arsenal FC's youth academy when he was nine. With the academy team he scored goals against Coventry City and Milton Keynes Dons , among others . In 2008 he was accepted into the reserve team. On September 23, 2008 he and his friend from the youth academy Jay Emmanuel-Thomas got the chance to get a taste of the professional air and both sat on the bench in the Carling Cup game against Sheffield United .

On May 22nd, 2009 he started in the FA Youth Cup final against Liverpool FC , but had to be replaced after a quarter of an hour due to an injury. Arsenal won 4-1 to secure the 2008/09 FA Youth Cup. After a good preparation for the 2010 season in Austria , he received praise from coach Arsène Wenger after the games at the “Emirates Cup”. Wenger said Frimpong did a really good job. Although he is not a good dribbler, he compensates for this with his combative commitment.

On August 19, 2010, he injured his anterior cruciate ligament while training and threatened to take a six to nine month break. In the 2011/12 season he made his professional debut on the first day of the Premier League against Newcastle United when he came on for Tomáš Rosický in the second half . In the second game of the season in the 2-0 defeat against Liverpool , he received the first yellow-red card of his career in the 69th minute.

On December 31, 2011 Arsenal FC loaned Frimpong to the Wolverhampton Wanderers until the end of the season . On November 19, 2012, Frimpong was loaned to Charlton Athletic through the end of the year .

On January 25, 2013 Frimpong was loaned to Fulham FC until the end of the season.

On January 31, 2014 Frimpong moved to the Football League Championship for Barnsley FC . After only nine league appearances, he moved to Russia for FK Ufa in the summer of 2014 .

National team

In 2007 Frimpong decided to play for the England U-16 national team. In March 2008 he scored the 1-0 in the game against Germany in the 71st minute of the Montaigu tournament .

In 2009 he announced that he would rather play for Ghana. He says he would play for Ghana because it was a dream of his to play for Ghana and he feels more connected to his home country than to England . In August 2010 he changed his mind and was nominated for the English U-19, but was forced to cancel due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

In February 2011 he said in an interview: "I have always told my family when Ghana calls me, I will personally ride my bike from England to Ghana to play for the Black Stars ." (GhanaToGhana.com)

On March 24, 2013, as part of the qualification for the 2014 World Cup against Sudan, he made his first international appearance when he came on for Mohammed Rabiu in the 66th minute in the 4-0 win .
