FA Youth Cup
The Football Association Youth Challenge Cup , shortly FA Youth Cup , is an English football competition of FA for players who are under 18 years old. It is mostly dominated by the youth teams of the professional clubs from the upper English leagues, although several hundred clubs participate each season. The current title holder is Chelsea .
At the end of World War II , the FA decided to host a nationwide youth tournament to give talents who were not yet old enough for the men's teams a chance to compete against their peers from across England. The FA Youth Cup was held for the first time in the 1952/53 season. Even then, youth teams from professional and amateur clubs were allowed.
Record winner is Manchester United with ten title wins. Many of today's stars were able to draw attention to themselves in this competition; For example, in the 1992/93 season, Gary Neville , Nicky Butt , David Beckham , Keith Gillespie , Robbie Savage and Paul Scholes were in the Man United squad . The attendance record is 38,187, achieved in the first leg of the 2006/07 season when Arsenal FC beat Manchester United 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium .
