Darius Gvildys (born December 26, 1970 in Kaunas ) is a Lithuanian football coach and former player. He is currently the coach of FC Stumbras .

Player career

Darius Gvildys first played as an active footballer for Banga Kaunas and was also part of the team in 1993 when the name was changed to FBK Kaunas and first took part in the professional league A Lyga . For years the defender played for the club, but could not achieve any significant success with Kaunas. During the two years in Russia at Lokomotiv Nizhny Novgorod and Arsenal Tula, Kaunas won their first championships. But Gvildys was not denied success, since he returned to his former club in 2001 and won the championship twice and the national cup once there until 2004. Before his team won the double again in 2004, however, he left the club and moved to Liepājas Metalurgs in Latvia. At the end of the year, however, he returned to his homeland and let his career end with Sūduva Marijampolė .

National team

For the Lithuanian national soccer team , Darius Gvildys played eleven games from 1996 to 1999.

Coaching career

Gvildys worked from 2012 to 2014 as the coach of Sūduva Marijampolė . Since January 2015 he has coached the Lithuanian first division club FC Stumbras and led the Kaunas club to stay in their first season.
